Sahapedia Heritage Walk- A Walk to the Red Fort: Unveiling the Mughal Harem

The Mughal world narrates stories of powerful women along with their male counterparts, but the harem still remains a place of wonderment and secrecy. The thick curtains that surrounded the harem were never lifted even when the women inside the harem made continuous efforts to break free of the shackles that bound them. The royal zenana was where the queens, princesses, princes, slave girls and often kept wives lived. The walk will take you back to the time of political maneuvering and well-kept love stories inside the veiled Mughal harem.

Sahapedia Heritage Walk- Reliving the Glorious Past of Bengal in Bowbazar and College Street

In Kolkata’s Bowbazar are several houses and lanes where armed revolutionaries of the Indian freedom movement met. Some of these landmarks are now lost from public memory. During this walk we will take you these places and tell you why they are so significant to Bengal’s past. College Street may be an educational hub of Kolkata but it has much more to offer than its historical educational institutions. We will visit houses of eminent personalities like nationalist Raja Subodh Mallik and writer Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.
