Alf Hiltebeitel is Professor of Religion and Human Sciences, George Washington University, United States. He received his PhD in History of Religions from the University of Chicago. The focus of his research has been the great epics of India (specifically the Sanskrit epics Mahabharata and Ramayana), regional folk epics, and the cult of Goddess Draupadi. In this interview, Hiltebeitel speaks about his long-time research on the cult of Draupadi in Tamil Nadu.
