Abhinav Mehta is a GIS specialist working on the Biodiversity Conservation and Rural Livelihood Implementation Project at the Gir National Park & Sanctuary.

Maldharis are the silvipastoralists who live in the Banni grasslands of the Kachchh district. Maldharis are spread over 48 hamlets that are organized into 19 panchayats.They have been custodians of the biodiversity rich Banni grassland ecosystem and have protected and nurtured it for over 450 years.
