A Santhali Song for Saharay Festival
This is the song of the Khuntao Maha, i.e. the third day of the Saharay Festival. This song describes the detrimental effect of early marriage on a young mother. She is becoming sad after seeing her friends singing and dancing together during the festival. But she cannot join them as she is a mother now and she has a small child. So she cries to her mother. Then her mother consoles her saying that she will look after the child for some time and she may go and join her friends.
