The massive rubble and Delhi-quartzite architectural ruins near the Badarpur-Mehrauli road are actually a story laid in stone—the story of the establishment of the Tughlaq dynasty during 14th century CE. Within one year of his reign Ghazi Malik, popularly known as Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq, decided to build his own capital—the first Tughlaq capital—Tughlaqabad.
