Gearing up for the night. The porattukali performers do a lot of make-up and put on ornate costumes as the performance is always during the night. Everything about this art form is improv, including the make-up and costumes, which the performers either do themselves or with the help of fellow performers, in a barricaded but open space just behind the stage.
