Images of Shiber Gajon (the Gajon of Shiva) that takes place in many areas of North and South 24 Pargana districts on the occasions of Charak in the month of Chaitra (mid-March to mid-April) and Dharmadel in the month of Vaishakh (mid-April and to mid-May). Both these festivals are dedicated to Shiva. These images of Gajan Sanyasis prove that they are worthy of the name in inflicting utmost pain on their body and tolerating it. They are toiling people, mostly working in agriculture, who do not enjoy the luxury of spiritual contemplation. Devotion through physical suffering is what they offer to the Lord .
