Akshita Raina

An architect by training, Akshita has a specialization in Architecture History, Theory and Criticism from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. She has likes to work in between the realms of history, both architectural and cultural, and conservation. Apart from history and heritage she also has a keen interest in trekking and has graduated in Basic Mountaineering from the Himalayan Mountaineering Course, Darjeeling.

The city had a total of nine stepwells. Out of these, four still exist and the rest have been demolished and built over.  The gallery has images of all stepwells except the Navlakhi vav, inside the Lakshmi Niwas Palace, to which access was denied.
