Shruti Ravi

Shruti is an academic assistant at IIJNM, Bangalore. She maintains an interest in graphic narratives, and her Masters dissertation looked at the use of the personal and political in Indian autobiographical comics. She is co-author of 'Transistor Can Be Bomb', published in the Yoda anthology of graphic non-fiction, 'First Hand'.

A political cartoon, a potent combination of word and visual, is an editorial comment on the day's happenings. In India, cartooning, that began its career in British India, has diversified into other genres like social cartooning, comics, the graphic novel and literature.
