Gagan Gill, poet and wife of Nirmal Verma, speaks of Verma’s personality, his life experiences in Europe and Delhi, and how they shaped the themes he engaged with and his peculiar writing style. Gill discusses in particular the role of literature, and how both Partition trauma and the aftermath of the Second World War might have shaped his understanding of human experiences.
