In conversation with Kamal Swaroop, screenwriter and filmmaker
Screenwriter-filmmaker Kamal Swaroop speaks at length about two of his long-standing projects: a documentary on one of the pioneers of Indian cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke, and one on the legends of Pushkar, the mythical site of Brahmanic Hinduism, marked by the Brahma Mandir, and commemorated by the annual camel fair. Dwelling upon the challenges of adapting and compressing two such complex narratives into feature film formats, he explains the use of visual techniques employed by him—motion sketches and recreation of mythical episodes.
