This module presents an overview of the livestock traditions in North India while focussing on Rajasthan. It delves into the pastoral traditions of the North by understanding the shifts in the culture of cattle rearing from the colonial period right up to the livestock fair at Pushkar. A series of images from the Pushkar cattle fair and a video provided by Rupayan Sansthan, Jodhpur, of a livestock fair in Tilwara, offer a look into the proceedings of livestock traditions in India, providing us a glimpse of the changing cattle culture of North India.
