The gallery has images of sculptures of Siva in different natya karanas portrayed along the inner ambulatory of the sanctum on the first floor of Brihadisvara temple. The orginal plan was for 108 panels intended for the same number of natrya karanas as prescribed in Natya Sastra. But only 81 panels up to the north-west corner of the ambulatory are carved while the rest are left empty.
