Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Kailashnath Temple is the oldest structure in Kanchipuram. The 8th-century temple was built under the patronage of the Pallava dynasty. In this video, Prof. Padma Kaimal talks about the architecture of the temple, focusing on the sculptures that adorn the walls, the effect of seasonal shifts on them, and how they encourage the clockwise and counter-clockwise circumambulation of the temple.
